Questions about a funeral home's prices

We can't quote prices or give advice on a specific funeral. The quickest way to get a home's prices is to ask the home. Under the FTC Funeral Rule (16 CFR Part 453), a funeral home has to hand you its General Price List when you ask about arrangements in person, and give you price information over the phone if you call. The list is yours to keep.

• Funeral Rule violations: reportfraud.ftc.gov. The FTC's Bureau of Consumer Protection enforces the Rule.
• Social Security $255 lump-sum death payment: 1-800-772-1213.
• State or county burial help: ask your county social services office or public administrator. Our guide to help paying for a funeral covers the federal benefits.
• Funeral Consumers Alliance: funerals.org. A nonprofit that helps people plan simple, affordable funerals, with affiliates around the country.

Fixing a price on our site

Funeral homes and families can both send corrections. If you've got a current General Price List that doesn't match what we show, send us:

• The funeral home's name and address.
• The page where you saw the price and the amount we show.
• The correct amount and where it came from: the home's General Price List, its website, or a price it gave you by email or phone, with the date.
• Your name and email if you'd like a reply.

For funeral homes: add, update or remove a listing

Listings come from the funeral home database our network of sites shares. To add, change or remove a listing, send us:

• The home's name, address, phone number and website.
• Your current General Price List (PDF or link) if your prices have changed.
• The change you want.

Removal requests should come from the owner or someone licensed to run the home. For paid partner listings, see partners.
